Summer’s Sizzle

We are well into the peak of the Muskie fishing season! We have had some very strange weather this summer producing a wide range of temperatures and weather patterns. These weather changes have brought many storm fronts through the area, which has made for some real interesting days of fishing. The numbers of Muskies caught have been very good for the past month or so as we have averaged 7 to 9 fish boated per trip. However even on the days with fewer fish we have noticed the quality of the Muskie has been excellent with the majority of them being over the 40 inch mark! The monster Muskies have also made their presence  known in our live wells as we have boated 12 Muskies that were over the 30 pound mark and our largest of the season so far was 54½ inches and weighed 39 pounds!

The Bass fishing over the past month has also been pretty awesome. We have had many days with high numbers caught and some real quality sized Bass caught as well. The past few weeks has had some lower numbers caught but the quality and size has been great. We boated quite a few over the 5 pound mark in the past few trips and the largest was over 6 pounds!

While the Muskie and Bass fishing is still in full swing we are preparing for our Fall fishing season, which is just around the corner! We will be stopping the Bass Charters in the start of September and we will be starting up our Fall Sturgeon fishing and Perch fishing charters.

If you want to get out and fill your cooler with some jumbo Perch or would like to experience the battle of your life with a prehistoric river monster, then don’t wait as our dates are filling fast.

We will be targeting our trophy Muskie through October, so if you want to see what the fall Muskie hunts are all about come on out.

Give us a call to discuss your charters and set them up. We will be looking forward to hearing from you and getting you out fishing this fall.

Tight Lines,
Capt. Kevin Backus
